Let the sun shine in!

These are some quick tips for selling your home, which will make selling your home easier than you think, but there are a few ground rules that you need to follow. While setting the right price is important to attract buyers, prospects also need to be impressed about your home to want to buy it, so make it look attractive and modern enough to suit the current styles.

Make sure your home smells clean and fresh, vacuum your home thoroughly, keep the kitchen and bathrooms sparkling clean, for those rooms always attract a lot of attention. De-clutter the other rooms, keep in mind, the more you remove, the larger the rooms will look.

Ensure that shelves and counter tops are not overflowing with items. Put away everything in its proper place, remove extra furniture and any showy pieces that might make your home look less appealing. Don’t forget to remove those pictures and posters that seem to be all over the place, a potential buyer should be able to picture the house with their belongings in it. Only then can they get an idea of how their things will fit in their new home. The rule of thumb is, less is better.

Curb appeal! Don’t forget about your landscape.  Update your landscaping, install new fixtures in the place of broken ones, get those window boxes, planters looking more colorful by adding some flowers, cover the house with a fresh coat of paint; in short give the house a new makeover, so that anyone looking at it will fall in love with it. Landscape should have curb appeal, from the minute potential buyers pull up in front of your home, walk up the driveway, their expectations soar, and nothing should deflate that feeling. If you think that you’ve done everything you can and your home still looks untidy inside and out, deep cleaning always helps a home to look better. There’s nothing like a clean house to attract a buyer.

Light is great for showing off the beauty of your home.  Open the curtains let the light in to show them how much natural light really enters the house. Turn on the lights to show them the fixtures are working and this will show them your home looks with the lights on.

Most importantly, do ensure that family and pets don’t get under their feet. Nothing can be as irritating as to have their attention taken away by noisy children or barking dogs. You want to remain focused and concentrate on getting the actual picture of your home. You want a calm serene atmosphere when a potential buyer is in your home.

Let the real estate agent show them around, don’t follow them through your home. Potential buyers are more comfortable and they can talk among themselves and with their agent.  Be flexible when it comes to visiting times and if they want to visit on short notice be ready for them. This way more people will want to visit your beautiful home and increasing the chances of a quick sale.

Homeowners don’t generally have the selling skills that a real estate agent does.  This is a real estate agent’s profession and they have more experience, as to what buyers look for in a home, so they will make suggestions to you that could enhance the chances of your home selling. Take the selling tips seriously, as you hired a professional real estate agent to sell your home.
